Johanna Parr

What is your "WHY" for teaching? I teach to ensure that when my students leave my classroom, their heads and hearts will be full of unforgettable instructional memories.

Area of Expertise: My area of expertise includes teaching kindergarten for 20 years. I work with many ESL students and co-wrote the book, Six Principles for Teaching English Language Learners in All Classrooms. I am also the PBIS and PBL lead at my school.

What is your PBL experience? I received my PBL certification in May 2020. Over the past school year my district's chief academic chief officer and the local news have come to my classroom to attend my students PBL expos.

What is your favorite aspect of PBL? My favorite aspect of PBL is students take an active role in meaningful learning experiences that ensures every student is fully prepared for the future.

Why do you enjoy facilitating? I enjoy facilitating because I am on a mission to inspire other educators to participate in project based learning! The more educators that are trained in PBL the more students will walk into a classroom each day that challenges, inspires and excites them everyday.
