What is your “WHY” for teaching? As a student, I never had a passionate moment in the classroom. I never found myself in an assignment, I never felt inspired, and I left high school with zero idea what I wanted to do or what I could be. I became a teacher to make sure other students felt passion, strength and belonging.

Area of Expertise: I have 23 years of experience teaching secondary English/language arts, with the last ten years being focused on project-based learning. I also have my masters in educational leadership and plan to move to administration very soon.

PBL Experience: I have been teaching in the PBL style for ten years, and have been a PBL coach for the last five years. I love brainstorming project ideas and I am a master rubric creator!

Favorite aspect of PBL: I love every aspect of PBL, from the high levels of student engagement to the authentic learning experiences to presenting, all the way to student application. PBL is the way to teach!

Why do you enjoy facilitating? I love spreading the gospel of PBL and showing teachers there is a different way to address our course standards. I love the excitement and energy when teachers begin planning projects they are passionate about instead of assigning cardboard cut out readings and assessments.
