What is your “WHY” for teaching? All that I do as an educator is driven by a passion for empowering students and teachers. In education our responsibility is to equip all students with the skills and knowledge they need to find success in the world around them. I believe our purpose is to engage students in experiences that will bring the world to them, igniting their passions and illuminating the relevance and meaning behind their learning. My “why” as an educator is ensuring that every teacher and student can access those transformational experiences.

Area of Expertise: I have been fortunate enough to work with educators throughout our district, as well as community partners, so I have developed a global perspective on the real-world value in PBL.

PBL Experience: My experience with project-based learning (PBL) began as an elementary teacher then instructional coach. PBL became the practice through which we integrated STEM skills into our curriculum K-12 and a cornerstone of a district-wide implementation plan for workforce readiness. I have co-planned, co-taught, and developed professional learning for teachers across grade levels and content areas.

Favorite aspect of PBL: PBL gives kids ownership over their learning and places them in positions to engage authentically with their community in order to solve real problems that matter to them.

Why do you enjoy facilitating? My favorite part of facilitating professional learning is to see the transformation that can happen in teachers regardless of experience level from skepticism or uncertainty at the start of your time together to restored confidence and enthusiasm by the end!
