What is your “WHY” for afterschool? My "why" comes from my oldest daughter. When she started school I knew that she had a family that would support her in accomplishments but also her failures. That can't be said for ALL students. I knew that I wanted to become a teacher to give ALL students the support and love that I knew my daughter would receive.
Area of Expertise: I am certified to teach 1st-6th grade however my passion is elementary, specifically 2nd grade. I have been teaching 2nd grade for 7 years. I am also a certified in TESOL and have my Master's in Interdisciplinary Studies.
What is your PBL experience? I began my PBL journey in the summer of 2018 and have continued implementing PBL in my classroom since then. I became PBL certified in 2022 and began facilitating the following summer.
What is your favorite aspect of PBL? My favorite aspect of PBL is the authentic learning, not only for my students but for me as well. PBL allows my students to take ownership of their learning and thrive. It gives all students the opportunity to show master in a unique way to them.
Why do you enjoy facilitating? I enjoy facilitating with Magnify Learning because it gives me the opportunity to share and collaborate with other educators who want to improve their craft and find another way of learning for their students.
