How do I create a positive classroom culture?

Have you ever walked into a classroom and just felt something different? The buzz seems to be more productive, or you feel safer to share, or you can somehow feel the empowerment of the learners.

That’s culture in a Project Based Learning classroom! Culture helps move the mission along without having to say “be nice, protect people’s voice, think critically”. You see, culture is a multiplier that creates a momentum. A positive culture is like a current that you get caught up in. When a learner walks into a classroom with a positive culture, they are automatically being moved toward a positive outcome by the artifacts on the wall, the accepted language, and the established norms.

The truth is every classroom has a culture. The question is two-fold: -Is your classroom culture working for you or against you? -How are you creating a positive classroom culture on purpose?

Great positive classroom cultures don’t happen by accident. At Magnify Learning, we create professional development opportunities with culture in mind. Every activity, protocol, video, etc. is designed to empower our participants. The resources listed below are ones we suggest for building a positive culture in your classroom.
