How can I make my groups more effective?

Group contracts provide clear roles and expectations in a Project Based Learning classroom. Without them, you might as well be trying to help the local food pantry by working with students in your entire lunch room! Ouch! Learners want to learn together. The know the Margaret Meade quote, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.” If they don’t, they should! I do suspect that Margaret was not talking about the group of learners under the bleachers at the pep session. I think she was talking about an organized and focused group of people working toward a common goal. Group contracts are going to get us closer to positive group dynamics by defining everyone’s roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes. No reason to reinvent the wheel on group contracts.
