What is your why for teaching? My “why” is centered in my upbringing. My parents taught me that I should leave every space enter better than how I found it. Teaching is the way I do that. Every day, I strive to make my kids’ experiences and lives better. I want to be a change-maker for my students.
PBL Expertise: I was originally trained by SREB and have been practicing and coaching PBL ever since. I have run several curricular and cross-curricular PBL’s at the high school level. I became a Magnify Learning certified facilitator during the 2019-2020 school year.
Favorite Aspect of PBL: I love seeing kids engage in difficult content without knowing it. “Tricking” them into engaging with their learning while gaining agency is so fulfilling.
Why do you enjoy facilitating? Over the course of my career, I have gravitated towards coaching and supporting my peers in their work. I love learning from others in that work, and facilitating fills both of those needs. I have optimism breathed into me when I see other educators growing and learning because it gives me hope for the future.
