What is your “WHY” for teaching? My "WHY" for teaching is to see and nurture that spark for learning, the deepening curiosity for knowledge and explanations for the unknown. Sharing the love of learning and the desire to broaden your horizons through your study. Above all, my why is to share the love of reading and discussion of the stories we tell each other in order to make sense of our world.

Area of Expertise: My expertise is in English Language Arts and Historical Perspectives.

PBL Experience: I started to gravitate towards PBL in my first teaching post and attempted my first project in a middle school setting. Now I have been facilitating in a New Tech high school with wall-to-wall PBL since 2016.

Favorite aspect of PBL: I enjoy getting to learn alongside the students and offer them the opportunity to find other hidden avenues and side streets to take our learning and our project. It's amazing when the students take the project in a direction completely different than what I could imagine.

Why do you enjoy facilitating? I enjoy facilitating the most when students just dig into the material and find their own personal relevance to the content. When they want to have those deeper conversation and argue about a piece of information with passion and engagement tying into the project with their own ideas and paths of information to study.
