Kyla Pine

What is your "WHY" for teaching? I teach simply because I want to make a positive difference in the lives of my students. I love seeing their growth as little people throughout the time we have together.

Area of Expertise: I have been a primary teacher in Indiana for the majority of my 9 years of teaching, with most of that time spent as a first grade teacher. I also have experience with Kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 7th grade English. I have taught in both rural and urban school communities.

What is your PBL experience? I have 3 years of experience implementing PBL in my first grade classroom. I was able to receive my PBL trainings alongside many other teachers within my former school corporation because it is a corporation wide iniative. I received my certification last summer, led my first training last fall, and this will be my first summer facilitating with Magnify Learning.

What is your favorite aspect of PBL? I love how students receive authentic problem solving experience through PBL. They are able to see how even as six and seven year olds they can make a positive difference in their communities.

Why do you enjoy facilitating? I enjoy facilitating because I have the opportunity to help other teachers realize the positive impact PBL can have on their students. I also love being able to connect with educators from all sorts of backgrounds as we work together to create meaningful and memorable learning experiences for children.
