AFTERSCHOOL WORKERS WANT TO contribute to the success of youth in school and in the community, BUT may FEEL that THEY LACK THE SKILLS and time TO DO THAT EFFECTIVELY…

We offer an open project-based learning workshop that equips afterschool workers and volunteers with skills and a framework for creating effective, standards-based afterschool lessons, activities, and programs that when implemented results in improved academic performance and life skills for youth. We train youth workers and volunteers how to use standards and how to identify learning goals in a way that provides effective and meaningful lessons and programs that enhance students’ learning and builds their 21st Century skills.

We do this by offering an open enrollment workshop of project-based learning professional development for afterschool personnel who work with K-12 youth.

Our trainers are PBL Certified facilitators, who are using project-based learning in their own lessons and programs. They have helped us train thousands of youth worker who are successfully using their project-based learning skills to help their students succeed. Stop feeling overwhelmed and gain confidence in your ability to support youth success!

Magnify Learning introduced AYS to project based learning during a retreat for summer camp directors. Our facilitator was a fantastic guide as we integrated our weekly themes and daily schedule with the PBL process. Magnify Learning was responsive to the needs of AYS as we collaborated on the development of the project. Magnify Learning is a fantastic resource to introduce PBL to the Afterschool community.

AFTERSCHOOL OPEN WORKSHOP BENEFITS

Afterschool Value.png
  • Participants gain a comprehensive understanding of the project-based learning (PBL) process as well as the nuts and bolts of project-based learning and how it fits with afterschool.

  • Every participant leaves with a Project-Based Learning Unit based on national or state standards (DOE, Next Gen, Literacy, 21st Century etc.) ready to implement and the processes/structures to create future PBL Units within their afterschool program. As a result students benefit from standards-based lessons and activities that focus on solving real-world problems and that help them develop 21st century skills.

  • We model and equip each participant with protocols for team and culture building that can be used within afterschool programs and among afterschool staff and volunteers.

  • Each participant receives training, feedback, and insight from PBL Certified trainers who have experience teaching and using project-based learning in their own lessons and units.

  • Each participant becomes connected to a community of like-minded youth workers who they can go to for support.

  • Each participant leaves the training with an action plan and tangible next steps for fulfilling their afterschool program goals.

He [the facilitator] was willing to answer questions and was open to changes and really engaged in the seminar. I enjoyed the information and group activities, discussing other plans, getting a template, the idea of a place to go online and find other lesson plans people find useful, and collaboration of ideas for lesson planning. Great info to pass on for our afterschool program.
